At Next Step Recovery for Women, we understand that
addiction is a disease with a neurobiological basis and environmental, emotional
and social
triggers. For women, it is also a disease that can be complicated with other
issues including codependency, depression and eating disorders.
We believe that education about the disease of addiction
and the recovery process is essential for preventing relapse and supporting
long-term recovery.
All of our residents receive
ongoing relapse-prevention education and life-skills training that
helps them understand the biological
and emotional
aspects of addiction and the stages of recovery.
Our program helps residents identify
and avoid relapse triggers including defensive
thought patterns, decisions and behaviors that can sabotage
recovery efforts.
Residents also learn to practice healthy
coping skills that address the underlying problems
that addiction kept hidden and made worse.
